The first three children to receive their surgeries are recovering well!
The attached photos will allow you a glimpse into the Little Hearts Medical/Love Without Boundaries inaugural Cardiac Exchange in Hefei, China! Two of the three children that received surgeries yesterday are part of the LWB Unity Fund, which exists to provide support and medical care to the children of impoverished families in an effort to stem the relinquishment of children into institutionalized care. The third child is an orphan who very likely was relinquished due to his biological family’s desperation and inability to provide for his needs.
Adoption alone will not solve the orphan crisis. Finding solutions to the core issues leading to child abandonment is critical, and providing support to biological families is one piece of that solution.
